NHS Referral

“We do everything we can to support your eye health and partner with the NHS to make this happen”

Linklater Opticians

Imagine if you came to us with a problem – glaucoma, for example. Under the traditional referral system, we’d have sent you to your doctor, who would have sent you to hospital. After a long wait, you would finally hear if your eyes were ok or not.

But things are changing for the better. We’re involved in a ‘shared care’ arrangement. It’s part of the latest developments in the NHS to make care quicker and more accessible to everyone. What it means is that we are trusted to provide support to the local hospital and GPs.

With the new ‘shared care’ system, you no longer have that anxious wait for news. Instead, if we suspect a problem with your eyes, we will call you back in after a week and check your eyes again. If there’s a problem, we can fast-track you to hospital.

We’re approved by the NHS to offer this service. We like it because it helps you, offers reassurance, and keeps people out of hospital when they don’t need to be there.

Booking your eye examination with us couldn’t be easier. Simply call us on 01322 223113 and speak to a member of our friendly team. Alternatively you can visit our Book an appointment page and we’ll do all the hard work for you.
